Before an Oil & Gas/Industrial Plant is handed over to the project owner, the construction contractor (EPC) must run tests to make sure every facility works properly and meets all required specifications, both for performance and safety. This testing stage is called Precommissioning & Commissioning.

Precommissioning and Commissioning activities are coordinated by an expert called the Commissioning Manager, who masters multidisciplinary skills including piping, mechanical, electrical, instrument, process, safety and telecommunication.

The shortage of Commissioning Management experts in Indonesia means this position still offers many opportunities and a fairly high salary. Today a Commissioning Engineer with 5 years of experience can earn up to IDR 25 million/month, and abroad up to USD 10,000/month.

Precommissioning & Commissioning Management training is usually held internally by companies with expatriate speakers at around USD 2,000 per participant. 4. Preparing Markup Drawings (P&ID), Single Line Diagrams & Control Systems
5. Preparing the Instrument/Equipment List and Cable List
6. Understanding Check Sheets & Test Sheets
7. Preparing the Commissioning Flow/Sequence, Schedule & Manpower Loading
8. Preparing lists of Vendor Support, Spare Parts, Tools, First Fill and Consumables
